In the latest Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best awards by TripAdvisor, two South African restaurants have earned a place among Africa’s top fine dining establishments.
These honours highlight not only the high calibre of food and service in SA, but also how travellers are judging excellence: consistency, innovation, and memorable culinary experiences.
Two Cape Town restaurants claim spots on prestigious list
The celebrated restaurants are La Colombe, in Constantia, and FYN, in central Cape Town. Both venues are renowned for their creativity, precision, and unforgettable dining experiences, qualities that have now earned them spots among the world’s elite.
La Colombe ranked 20th on TripAdvisor’s Best of the Best Restaurants in Africa list, while FYN followed close behind at 22nd. They were the only South African entries to be included in the ‘Top 25 Fine Dining Restaurants in Africa’ category.
The Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best awards are based entirely on traveller feedback and reviews over 12 months.
Fewer than one percent of restaurants listed on TripAdvisor achieve this level of recognition, which is reserved for venues that consistently deliver excellence in food, service, ambience, and overall experience. It’s not about one extraordinary meal, but about sustained excellence that leaves a lasting impression on diners from around the world.
For South Africa, the dual recognition reinforces Cape Town’s reputation as a global food capital, a destination where culinary craftsmanship meets creativity.
