‘Unbelievable’ – Jon Rahm’s magical Ryder Cup moment leaves fans stunned as Europe and US battle it out

JON RAHM produced the shot of the Ryder Cup with a thrilling chip-in.

The Spaniard was in red-hot form to win his foursomes and fourballs matches on Friday.

The ball landed on the green and rolled in for a birdie[/caption]

And he continued his incredible performance with his moment of genius at the eighth on Saturday morning.

Having just been pegged back to all square on the seventh against Xander Schaufeele and Patrick Cantlay, Tyrrell Hatton hooked his tee shot on the par-three eighth left.

The ball ended up in the thick rough right by a greenside bunker.

But that was no issue for partner Rahm.

The LIV rebel, 30, had to stand with both feet in the sand and the ball well above them.

However, he showed majestic hands to produce a superb shot that pitched on the front of the green.

It then rolled beautifully right at the hole then disappeared into the cup for a birdie two, sparking wild scenes among the European fans.

Rahm celebrated by pointing to the sky and pumping his fist as he marched up to retrieve his ball.

Incredibly, Schauffele – whose dad Stefan has boycotted the event – very nearly followed him in very similar fashion but his chip shot finished a couple of feet away.

And all the talk was about Rahm’s “unbelievable” effort.

One commentator described it as “the greatest chip shot I have ever seen”.

And plenty of Ryder Cup fans took to social media to heap praise on Rahm.

One said: “It’s nearly impossible to describe just how hard this shot was. And he holed it.”

Another wrote: “Shot of the year.”

A third added: “Jon Rahm that is so, so good.”

And a fourth typed: “Jon Rahm are you kidding?”

THE 45th Ryder Cup takes place from September 26-28 with the US team desperate to wrestle back the crown from Europe.

Scottie Scheffler and the American side will battle Rory McIlroy’s European team in New York.

The infamous Bethpage Black course will be the venue for the latest edition of the pulsating golf tournament.

NBC will broadcast the competition in it’s entirety in the United States.

Friday’s foursomes and fourballs will be live on USA Network from 7 am ET to 6 pm ET.

Saturday’s action will take place during the same hours live on NBC.

And Sunday’s singles will also be on NBC from 12 pm ET to 6 pm ET.
