Springbok Eben Etzebeth witnessed a couple getting engaged at his Unlocked book launch in Cape Town on Tuesday, 7 October.
The 33-year-old – the twice Rugby World Cup winner and highest capped player in the national team – released his memoir last week.

In a video posted on Bargain Books’ Instagram account, Eben Etzebeth witnessed a man propose to his girlfriend during the book signing of Unlocked.
A beaming Etzebeth gave the couple the thumbs up before giving both of them a warm embrace.
“When your boyfriend goes full try-line and proposes in front of Eben Etzebeth at his Bargain Books book launch—talk about scoring big under pressure!” read the caption on the post.
In the comments section, fans of the Springbok were amused at what transpired.

‘BEST DAY OF MY LIFE’
Like the happy couple, Eben Etzebeth’s own proposal to his now wife, Anlia Etzebeth, in 2022, was just as romantic.
The Bok popped the question to the singer on her birthday, in Hyères, along the romantic French Riviera.
“By far the best day of my life! I am the happiest woman on earth! You are just everything”, Anlia said of her partner in an engagement announcement.
Etzebeth – known for his fierce persona on the pitch – gushed over his wife, adding, “The start of the rest of our life! I have never wanted to hear the yes-word so badly. You have made me the happiest human on the planet. Looking forward to spending the rest of my life with you!”
The couple wed a year later in Franschoek and now have a daughter and another on the way.
Anlia told TimesLive that being married to Springbok Eben Etzebeth came with its own set of challenges.
She said: “There is a lot of travelling, there are some sacrifices. There can be weeks that go by where we don’t see each other.
She added, “It’s nice that we understand each other. It’s important to communicate and talk about everything constantly, be a safe space for each other, and put each other first.”
