Mamelodi Sundowns are one of the four African teams participating in the FIFA Club World Cup.
The Brazilians will play Ulsan, Borussia Dortmund and Fluminense in their group, hoping to progress to the round of 16.
Having won their eighth successive Betway Premiership, Masandawana will look to impress in the United States with the world watching.
What time will Sundowns play their opening Club World Cup match?
Mamelodi Sundowns will play South Korean outfit Ulsan on Wednesday, 18 July 2025 at 00:00. After that, Miguel Cardoso’s men will play Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, 21 June 2025 at 18:00. The BVB match is no doubt their most difficult match but should Masandawana earn a draw, they might have a good chance of reaching the next round.
Sundowns will play their last Club World Cup group match against Fluminense on Wednesday, 24 June 2025. Kick off is for 21:00.
Former Manchester City and England defender Joleon Lescott said the Club World Cup will give Mamelodi Sundowns a chance to showcase their talent.
“There will obviously be a team from South Africa that other teams wouldn’t have seen and players wouldn’t have been recognised. It gives them an opportunity to get out of their national league so it’s a real opportunity for everyone to showcase their talent,” he said.
Having lost the CAF Champions League final against Pyramids, Mamelodi Sundowns will look to bounce back and do well in the Club World Cup. The tournament has already kicked off with the likes of Bayern Munich and PSG getting big wins.
Can Downs reach the next round?
