After handing the All Blacks their heaviest defeat, the Springboks are back in contention to win the Rugby Championship.
Last weekend, Rassie Erasmus’ team lost 24-17 to New Zealand at Eden Park, marking their second loss in the competition. However, on Saturday, the Springboks delivered a dominant second-half performance in Wellington, demolishing the All Blacks 43-10 and reclaiming the bragging rights over their fierce rivals.
Following the match, Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus expressed his satisfaction with the victory but acknowledged that the team’s focus would shift to their next two matches upon returning home.
“We’ve been on the other side of such a result when we lost 57-0 against them, and they managed to retain their win record at Eden Park and didn’t throw it in our faces, but we’ll take this win, and we are very happy with the result,” Erasmus told the media.
“We will enjoy tonight, we are flipping definitely going to enjoy tonight.
“But once we are back in South Africa again, it’s back to reality. We are second on the Rugby Championship log, but the next two games will determine where we finish and what our world ranking is,” he said.
When are the Springboks playing Argentina?
The Boks will next face Argentina on 27 September in their fifth Rugby Championship match. A week later (04 October), the two teams will face each other in Twickenham, which could be the championship decider.
