When will new coach Abdeslam Ouaddou join Orlando Pirates?

In a bombshell announcement on Monday, Orlando Pirates ended speculation over who would be serving as their next coach, unveiling former Marumo Gallants manager Abdeslam Ouaddou as the man who will take over at the helm of the Buccaneers.

Widespread reports in recent days had linked Rhulani Mokwena with the top job at the Soweto giants, but instead, Ouaddou will officially take up the hot seat as pre-season preparations officially kick off on June 27.

Abdeslam Ouaddou will soon join Orlando Pirates in person

In a statement released by Pirates, it was confirmed that Ouaddou is expected to arrive in South Africa towards the end of the week, while his management team was also confirmed. He be assisted by Mandla Ncikazi and Rayaan Jacobs, Helmi Gueldich and Tyron Damons.

As part of preparations for the upcoming campaign, Orlando Pirates will embark on their third consecutive international pre-season tour to Marbella, Spain.

The training camp – set to run from 8 July to 20 July – will see the team engage in high-level friendly matches against European opponents including Bolton Wanderers (England), Pafos FC (Cyprus), Las Palmas (Spain), and Granada (Spain).
