Who will be the first PSL coach to bite the dust?

The 2025/26 Premier Soccer League (PSL) kicked off earlier this month and already, some coaches are feeling the heat.

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has started the Betway Premiership on a low as his side suffered back-to-back defeats. The 46-year-old joined the club from Marumo Gallants and despite a promising pre-season and a good start in the MTN8, things fell apart in a space of a week.

An opening loss to Sekhukhune United raised eyebrows but it was the surprise defeat to Marumo Gallants which put the coach under pressure.

Can Ouaddou be the first PSL to get fired this season?

It’s doubtful that the coach will be let go this early, but if the Buccaneers somehow find a suitable replacement, he might be out of a job next month. Defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 and poor league results might force Irvine Khoza to make changes.

Another PSL coach who might be out is Chippa United head coach Sinethemba Badela. According to reports, the coach has had a difficult relationship with the club’s sporting director, Sinesipho Mali.

According to SABC Sport, Badela could be fired by the Chilli Boys just two months after being appointed as their coach. At Chippa, is all about results and if the coach can bring positive results early this season, he might survive.

In the past, Chippa Mpengesi has been quick to sharpen his axe whenever results were not coming. It remains to be seen if Chippa United will be the first PSL team to once again fire a coach.

Will Ouaddou or Badela survive before Christmas?
