WILLIE MULLINS has a 50-1 Grade 1 winner going ‘under the radar’ for the King George Chase, according to Danny Mullins.
The recent Kerry National winner put up Champ Kiely as one of his Closutton dark horses for the new jumps season.

Danny Mullins and uncle Willie know all about pulling off big price upsets in the King George having done it with 28-1 Tornado Flyer not that long ago[/caption]
Danny knows all about producing a King George upset having steered his uncle’s Tornado Flyer to a 28-1 success at Kempton on Boxing Day four years ago.
And he was in the saddle for Champ Kiely’s most recent run, when he scooped the Grade 1 Dooley Insurance Group Champion Novice Chase at Punchestown Festival last April.
The nine-year-old, who has raced just 12 times but won seven of them, saw off 11-8 fav stablemate Ballyburn in the process.
Brown Advisory winner Lecky Watson fell in that contest, Impaire Et Passe was brought down and third place Stellar Story finished miles behind.
Danny said afterwards a step up in trip was key to the horse’s success.
And he reckons sticking at three miles and going to a track like Kempton could see him throw up a Christmas cracker, for which he is as big as 50-1 with Paddy Power and Sky.
Mullins told Tote Racing: “He had a stop-start season but finished off well in Punchestown over three miles.
“I wonder if he could be one under the radar in the likes of a King George.
“That’s maybe a race that will fit in well for him.”
